The AutoCAT 2 WAVE IABP System.
It's more than a sophisticated new pump designed for hands-off operation. It's a whole new category, the first and only IAB system that uses Fiber Optic technology and a physiologically based timing algorithm, the WAVE, to deliver beat specific support with unprecedented timing accuracy.  
  • The WAVE algorithm converts the highly accurate arterial pressure from the Fiber Optic LightWAVE catheter to Aortic Flow on a beat-to-beat basis.
  • The AutoCAT 2 WAVE system calculates patient Aortic Flow on a beat-to-beat basis and instantaneously determines the aortic valve closure point. Aortic Flow timing sets inflation WITHIN THE BEAT automatically and matches inflation to the time of aortic valve closure.
  • Clinical evaluation of the WAVE timing algorithm verifies Aortic Flow Timing by matching inflation with aortic valve closure, thus improving patient support by virtually eliminating Intra-Aortic Balloon inflation timing errors.
  • During arrhythmia, automatic R-wave deflation, coupled with Aortic Flow Timing, delivers the first truly Intra-Beat timing system based on individual patient physiology.
  • Even patients with marked arrhythmias can now be appropriately supported.

The Revolutionary LightWAVE IAB Catheter has Fiber Optic technology that significantly enhances IAB performance.

A Fiber Optic Arterial Pressure signal contains an abundance of information like well known solid-state sensors such as Millar and Sentron.

The extraordinary accuracy of the Arterial Pressure signal combined with the ‘speed of light' transmission eliminates the limitations and delays of a traditional fluid filled Arterial Pressure system.

The Arterial Pressure information contained in the Fiber Optic signal is converted to Aortic Flow by the AutoCAT 2 WAVE pump console using the unique WAVE physiologically based timing algorithm.
